Notch Cancels Minecraft For Oculus Rift Because “Facebook creeps me out”

“I was in discusses maybe getting a form of Minecraft to Oculus. I simply cancelled the offer. Facebook creeps me out.”

It appears there won’t be any building crazy creations inside a Minecraft virtual reality in the near future. Following Facebook’s purchase of Oculus VR, the organization behind the Oculus Rift, Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson introduced he’s rescheduling any intends to bring Minecraft towards the Oculus Rift. Inside a tweet he published: “I was in discusses maybe getting a form of Minecraft to Oculus. I simply cancelled the offer. Facebook creeps me out.” Basically we wont see the official form of Minecraft, a beta form of the sport for Rift can be obtained around the Oculus website, although it was retitled Minecrift.

Inside a blog publish, Persson mentioned:

“Facebook isn’t a company of grass-roots tech enthusiasts. Facebook isn’t a game tech company. Facebook has past caring about building user figures, and absolutely nothing but building user figures. Individuals have made games for Facebook platforms before, even though it labored great for some time, these were stuck in an exceedingly unfortunate position when Facebook eventually altered the woking platform to higher fit the social experience these were attempting to build.”

He continues:

“Don’t misunderstand me, VR is pretty good for social…However I shouldn’t use social, I wish to use games.”

Facebook introduced their acquisition of Oculus today inside a (have a guess) Facebook publish. When they mentioned they want Oculus to place gaming first, Facebook clearly really wants to push virtual reality beyond gaming. They appear to wish to consider Skype’s place and innovate the way we talk to one another through virtual space. Possibly it is a different way for all of us to have interaction with one another and a method to video talk to one another. How The new sony adjusts their Project Morpheus VR as a result of the brand new purposes of the Oculus Rift remains seen.
