Gateway closes 76 US stores

Gateway closes 76 US stores Low-cost direct-sales PC manufacturer Gateway is sacking 17 per cent of its 11,200 staff and closing 76 of its US retail outlets. The cuts are part of a restructuring effort designed to “return the company to profitability”. The company expects the restructuring to cost between $75-$80 million, which will reflect in its first-quarter 2003 earnings. Gateway estimates that its first-quarter revenue for 2003 will be between $820 million and $850 million. Apple updates OS X Server

Apple updates OS X Server Apple has released a security update for Mac OS X 10.2.6 Server. The update is available in multiple languages. It updates Apache 2.0.45 to 2.0.46 and: “Addresses a security hole in the mod_dav module that could be exploited remotely causing an Apache Web server process to crash. In addition, this update prevents the exposure of a user’s password when using the dsimportexport tool,” Apple’s notes state.
