Why Kojima Got Depressed? GTA V for PS4 “Isn’t Simple Port With High Resolution/FPS, Huge Changes Across Entirety of Game”

At E3 2014, Grand Theft Auto V was announced for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Sony at their Playstation E3 conference showcased stunning looking in-game trailer captured directly from Playstation 4. The graphics/visuals and other details in next-gen version of GTA V not only surprised fans but Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima.

In a recent interview to CVG, Hideo Kojima stated that after seeing Grand Theft Auto V running on Playstation 4, he got depresed.

“What Rockstar has created, and the world they have created is super impressive and it looks really good, and actually when I saw the PlayStation 4 version of the game, a few days ago I got depressed again. And this is not game design-related, it’s just me. The quality that they showed in the PlayStation 4 trailer was really impressive.”

Recently, Our friend at EuroGamer did a tech analysis of Grand Theft Auto V Playstation 4 trailer and this is what they have to say: “The PS4 version resolves full 1080p, although certain sections certainly show plenty of aliasing.”

“This isn’t a simple port with a bump in resolution and an increased frame-rate. Rockstar has made huge changes across the entirety of the game.”

“Performance remains a mystery for now but assuming the trailer is captured in real-time, we should see a boost over last-gen frame-rates.”
